This is a pseudo review that servers as shameless advertising for Zenoss. If you are to do a real review, you will need to at least include, Zabbix, PandoraFMS and other enhanced Nagios based software as OpsView or Centreon.

Zenoss is a nice software but not mature enough to work out of the box. You can check the forum for the as of today 2.2.3 release and even basic stuff does not work. Not a lot of time spent on Quality Control and testing of releases. The Windows WMI in the Core version as well as the Reports are limited.

Install several of these NMS like I have, test them and then you can call your write up a REVIEW.

Thanks for the review, we're always happy to see satisfied users sharing their experiences. A small clarification, Zenoss is actually written from scratch, rather than extending MRTG. We do however, sponsor the work that Tobi Oetiker does since we use RRDTool for our graphing library. I might also add that in addition to SNMP we are the only Unix-based solution that provides native monitoring of Windows machines via WMI. Thanks again for the write-up, I look forward to seeing more SAGE members joining our Community. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can help with.

Thanks,
Matt Ray
