Sigh. It has come to this. I’ve had online journals in various forms for years and never update them. I have rt to track what I’ve been up to and need to do, but it is slow and I’m really not interested in putting more work into it right now. So, here I am.
How did I get here? David Blank-Edelman created a blog for LISA ‘05 using a hosting service and we wanted to host it on USENIX’s servers. So, not having a machine running MySql and PHP (USENIX is a Perl/Sybase shop), or knowing anything about either, I built the requisite bits on a machine we had running mailman for a one-off list. It came to pass that Strata wanted a blog to talk about her work as director of the SAGE program and instructions for setting it up. I hadn’t received the data from David to import yet, so I needed to create a test blog to figure out how to write the instructions. The test blog is currently in use yet, but may be if the current LISA ‘06 chair decides he wants to do something similar to what David did. So, I set up a blog for myself as well as the virtual host and dns entries to generally handle blogs for sage.org.
